The Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank was established in the year 2005 and is considered as the regional rural bank. The bank is a rural bank was formed when the amalgamation of four rural banks took places, which were Malaprabha Grameena Bank, Bijapur Grameena Bank, Varada Grameena Bank and Netravathi Grameena Banks. This amalgamation was processed on the basis of suggestions given by the Narasimhan Committee, which comes under the Government of India notification dated 12th September 2005.
