Savings Account minimum balance limit and charges

=> An Indian resident can open savings account as either individual, joint account, association, trust or Hindu undivided family.

=> Minimum balance limit for individuals with cheque book facility in rural localities is Rs.250 and for others it is Rs.500.

=> For semi urban localities the minimum balance limit for individuals is Rs.500 and for others it is Rs.1000.

=> For urban localities and metropolitan for individuals it is Rs.1000 and for others minimum balance limit is Rs.1500.

=> Savings account minimum limit balance for account holders without cheque book facility is Rs. 100.

=> For semi urban localities for savings account without cheque book facility the minimum amount will be Rs.250.

=> The minimum limit amount for urban and metropolitan localities is Rs.500.

=> If any short fall in minimum balance, the penalty will be 26% below Rs.100 to Rs.500 and minimal penalty is Rs.10.

=> If minimal balance is above Rs.500 the penalty will be above 36%.
