The State Bank of India (SBI) is among the largest premier commercial banks and the most popular nationalized bank in India. To open the State Bank of India Account online

To open an account online, visit the website https://oaa.onlinesbi.com/csp/onlineaccapp.htm and click on the icon that says ‘Savings Bank Account online application’. You will be transported to the link that clearly explains what you are supposed to do for opening an account online. You will have to fill in the requisite details online. Take a print-out of the account opening form on a white sheet paper, attaching the necessary documents and photographs as requested in the form.

The best option is to personally visit the branch where you wish to open the account and submit these details to the representative there. Else, you can send these details by courier to the branch address. When opening the account, a Temporary Customer Reference Number would be generated.

This will be sent to your registered mobile number for reference. Once the bank completes the processing of your application, you will be intimated about the same.

To close State Bank of India Account online

For closing your SBI account, you must know that to complete the process you will have to personally make a visit to your bank at least once. The procedure to close your account online is to download the account closure request form online by visiting the link

Before closing the account, you should clear your pending dues, if any. Fill in the account closure form, and mention the mode in which you wish to transfer the remaining balance. You will then have to personally visit the bank with your cheque book, passbook and debit card and surrender them to the bank, along with the completed form, and copies of your identity and address proof. Once your account is closed, you will receive an email in your registered email ID and an SMS on your registered mobile number.
