How To Write A Letter to Bank Manager To Close Your Account?

It is very easy to open a bank account with the ready forms available in the branches. However, this is not easy when it comes to the closure of the bank account. No bank would encourage you to do so, as they will lose out a customer. However, if you really feel that there is no need of running the show with the bank account, then it is always advisable to close the account. However, in order to do that, you have to hand over a letter to the bank manager for the same. The letter should justify that you need to close the account and you must provide all the details.

Here is how you must write the letter.

Salutation

This is the beginning part of the letter and that must contain to which the letter is addressed. In this case, the letter must be addressed to the Bank Manager. You must also provide the name of the bank, the branch and the full address of the branch.

The next part provides the details where you must provide the details of the sender. The name and the address of the sender must be mentioned in the letter.

Date

The date is the date on which the letter is being written.

Subject

The subject of the letter is the summary of the letter. This should give the bank manager a self-explanatory idea about the content of the letter.

Body

The body of the letter should explain everything to the bank manager. It must contain the name of the account holder and of course the account number. The request for closure of the bank account must be mentioned in the letter. The letter must explain that you are giving back the ATM Card, Passbook and the other necessary banking documents to the branch. The customer must also mention the contact address, mobile number and the email address to the bank manager for contacting in case required for the closure of the account. You must also ask for the confirmation once the closure of the account is completed.

Complete the closure of the letter by mentioning your name.

Formalities

All bank related documents and materials must be submitted to the branch. This should also be mentioned in the letter. However, it is always better to get a written confirmation from the manager that the documents have been received for future reference.

This is my earnest request that you kindly issue a demand draft for the remaining balance. Also, solicit the cooperation for the closure process.
