A Cheque is a kind of promise to pay a certain amount to the payee by the payer. So, for the payment, a person has to provide a cheque to the payee. The payee, in turn, deposits the cheque in the bank and gets the amount promised by the payer through the cheque. However, in order to get that one has to get a cheque book from a bank.
In order to get a cheque book from the bank, one needs to write a letter or application from the bank manager requesting him to give the cheque book. Here is how you must write the letter to the bank manager.
Salutation
The letter must start with the salutation to the bank manager. This should also include the name of the bank and the branch of course. The full address of the branch must also be written there. However, the name of the applicant and the full address should also be provided under the same section.
Date
The date should be the date of the letter written.
Subject
The subject is always the summary of the letter. The bank manager must understand the content of the letter just by having a glance at it. The subject must be concise and brief.
Body
The body of the letter is where you write the content of the letter. The letter must include the name and address of the applicant. The relationship with the bank, the account number and others must be provided. The reason for the request of the cheque must be clearly spelled out to help the Bank Manager to understand the reason behind it. All the required documents required for the application should be attached with the application and must be mentioned as well.
Thank the manager at the end of the letter.
Closure
Mention your name in the closure of the letter.

Formalities
Make sure you carry the passbook of the bank in case you require the same at the branch for the new cheque book request. All other documents such as the identity proofs must be positively carried.
